I am often fascinated how people met and fall in love. that's why I always asked how my clients did they meet. I am always blown away of each and everyone's story. Jon & Joy is yet again another beautiful story.
Jon and Joy first met each other in school. Jon was more aware of Joy than she was of him. In 2015, they started to get to know each other. However, after a few months, they decided to stay as friends as Jon is always away with the army whilst Joy was busy pursuing to be a student nurse by doing healthcare experience therefore they never found the time for each other.
Fate diverted Joy to pursue a food and nutrition course instead of nursing whilst Jon left the army to explore a new career as an engineer. In 2019, Joy was finishing university and promised herself not to entertain any admirers, but it didn’t last long. Jon messaged Joy on the 25th of December 2019, and he said ‘Merry Christmas!’ Then they continued to talk. On their first official date, Jon drove 3 hours to see Joy after work. They went to the cinema to see ‘Last Christmas’ and bowling. There was an instant spark and connection we both knew was the start of something special as we talked about our future and how many kids we want to have. Jon would drive up 6 hours every weekend to see Joy and researches Filipino traditions to introduce himself to Joy’s parents correctly. Jon never had a second thought to meet Joy’s parents even if they
weren’t official yet. Everything went well, considering he is the first man that Joy introduced to her parents. The unforeseen event happened on a Monday morning just after visiting Joy. He was working as normal up a telephone pole when he had sudden chest pain and shortness of breath and blurred vision. He realised something was not right but couldn’t call for help due to being in a remote area with no signal luckily someone drove by and helped him into someone's house where an ambulance was called, Jon was having a sudden heart attack so was put into an ambulance to be taken to hospital, during the journey he went into a cardiac arrest and passed away for a little over 5 minutes.
Joy received the unsuspected call and had an emotional breakdown and was then rushed to the hospital. She stayed over at the hospital, holding his hand while he slept. After a week, Jon was discharged and began his gradual recovery. After half a year, Jon was dropping hints that he wanted to propose so then Joy informed her mum and she jokingly replied ‘you can’t get married first as you are the youngest in the family.
Jon knew he had to postpone his proposal to follow Filipino tradition. A little further down the line, he researched and followed Joy’s tradition on how to ask for her parents’ blessing. Jon brought a fruit basket, red wine, and a bouquet as a sign of respect. Joy’s parents were very happy and proud of how he asked and, of course, gave their blessings.
Then came the proposal at Friars Crag in Keswick at a lovely bench positioned with an amazing view, he asked to get a picture of Joy and Iggy overlooking the Lake, and when Joy turned back around he was on one knee proposing, Joy cried and of course said yes and Iggy was showing her happiness with the special moment too.
Rare moments like this was just magical, full of love and filled with excitements. Jon and Joy are now getting married soon. I am just so honoured and priviledge to be documenting this wedding. I sure will have a great time with this lovely and beautiful couple.
